The Title 42 expulsions order is a Trump-era policy that weaponized the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to violate the rights of migrants seeking asylum in the United States. Over four months into his presidency, President Biden has kept this policy firmly in place, continuing the practice of immediately expelling thousands of asylum seekers, including families and children, as soon as they reach the U.S.-Mexico border.

This practice not only puts the lives of the individuals fleeing horrific violence immediately in danger, but it also violates the legal right to seek asylum under the false pretense of protecting public health. Please, join us today and demand an immediate end to Title 42 border expulsions and protect the right to seek asylum at the U.S. border.

Ending Title 42 is critical to protect asylum seekers
Dear President Biden

I’m writing today to urge you to immediately rescind the Title 42 border expulsion order – the Trump-era policy that expels asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.

There is no public health justification for this practice – even during a pandemic – it was used by your predecessor as a way to weaponize the coronavirus against those seeking asylum in the United States from horrific violence. Even top officials form the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention have stated that the order “lacked a public health basis” and was “not motivated by public health concerns.” (https://www.publichealth.columbia.edu/research/program-forced-migration-...)

Please, I strongly urge you to swiftly end the Title 42 order and stop putting asylum seekers into even more danger by immediately expelling them back to Mexico and their home countries, and to welcome them with dignity.

Sincerely,
