Dear Sir or Madam,
Russia’s history of human rights abuse and war crimes is long, and well documented. Now, with Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine – the first military action in Europe since the United Nations was founded – the world is watching and demands action to hold Russia accountable.
Reports of Russia’s abuses of international law in Ukraine are already numerous, and include the destruction of health care facilities, the use of banned cluster bombs and other unlawful, indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets including residential neighborhoods and buildings.
The invasion of Ukraine is a historic act of aggression, and one that demands swift and decisive action in defense of human rights. The United Nations Human Rights Council must immediately remove the Russian Federation from the council over its and issue a decisive resolution, committing to hold the perpetrators of human rights abuses in Ukraine accountable.
