Through evidence,
change is possible.

2018–2019

United States

We’re responding to the ongoing crisis at the U.S. border – speaking out and activating our network of trained medical professionals to protect the health and human rights of migrant families seeking asylum.

2000s–Present

Myanmar (Burma)

Since 2004, we’ve been documenting atrocities against minorities in Myanmar, including those suffered by Muslim Rohingyas, to compile the scale and scope of violations, corroborate their stories, and help them seek justice.

2011–Present

Syria

Since the start of the Syrian conflict, we've been vigilantly documenting attacks on hundreds of medical personnel and facilities, and advocating for accountability for these war crimes.

2018

Tajikistan

A court sent two law enforcement officers to prison for torturing and driving an Islamic activist to suicide. The case hinged on a forensic medical examination conducted by a PHR-trained medical expert – the first time such evidence had ever been admitted by a Tajik court.

2017

Democratic Republic of the Congo

PHR’s crucial medical evidence helped convict perpetrators and send them to prison for life for the rapes of dozens of children in the village of Kavumu.

2015

United States

After years of pressure from PHR and partners, the American Psychological Association finally banned psychologists from taking part in national security interrogations or working at detention sites operating in violation of international human rights law – sites like Guantánamo Bay detention center.

1990s

Bosnia

Forensic evidence we gathered was presented in trials in The Hague that ended with the conviction of Bosnian Serb leaders for crimes against humanity in 2016 and 2017.

1980s

Iraq

Through our research in 1989, we were one of the first groups in the world to prove that Saddam Hussein had used chemical weapons against the Kurds.
